Specifically, it sends a message requesting a single step of the specified thread running on the target system by way of the dbgif tool. This command has no output. A "single step" is defined as the execution of one assembly language instruction, not one line of source code. Before executing this command, you must ensure that the dbgif program is running and that the METHOD environment variable is set to indicate whether this is a request for the R4300 CPU or the reality co-processor (RCP). The value zero represents the CPU and the number one represents the RCP. In csh, this is accomplished by specifying: setenv METHOD 0Note that single-stepping the co-processor actually executes two instructions if the first instruction is a branch.
